November 2,2021—One of the senior Political advisors of the deposed Prime Minister, Yasir Saed Arman has gone missing and his whereabouts remain mysterious so far, SPLM-North said.
Arman was apprehended by the security operatives on the eve of coup and driven to unknown location.
Speaking to media from the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, Mohammed Saleh, a senior member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North said, Arman was no where to be seen since he was arrested on 25th of October in the wake of military take over on Monday. His family members and comrades including his biological brother said they are denied information about him.
Saleh said the way Arman was picked up from his residence was so violent and indicates mistrust between civilian and military leadership.
” We cannot trust the military because of their denying access or provision of any information regarding him and also his denied visit by his immediate family”, Saleh said.
“When his brother went to asked about him he was denied access to information”, he added.
Yasir Arman is the Deputy Chairman of the SPLM-N under Gen. Mailk Agar and was appointed as the Political Advisor by the former prime minister, Abdallah Hamdok, following the Juba Peace Agreement signed on 3rd of October 2020 under the auspices of South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
On 25th of October 2021, the Head of Sudan Sovereign Council Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan arrested all civilian leaders especially those advocating for democratic transition in the country. He also dissolved the shared Transitional Government and imposed a state of emergency.
The arrest of civilians leaders has drawn international condemnations including from the U.S that reached to the point of suspending its monetary donation.
Last week, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan announced publicly that he would constitute technocrats government which will sideline all political elements and work only for the sole interest of the Sudanese people; however, the protesters are still advancing their calls for military to exit political power once and for good in Sudan.
