Startled, the three people in the house turn toward the door. Policeman
B rejoices as he now sees that the third person in the house is indeed
THE AMERASIAN.
The Amerasian is rattled. Luckily, because he is black, the color
doesn't drain from his face. Instead, his eyes open wide, and his
mouth gapes, showing his white teeth. The mother loses her
composure. She waves her arms in front of her as if trying to stop
Policeman B. Policeman A is also surprised. He stands up and opens
his mouth as if trying to say something, but words fail him, and he just
mumbles something and stops. A minute of awkward silence passes.
Policeman B raises his voice to greet everyone present. He tries to

POLICEMA

get
The mother of the Amerasian, still surprised, remains silent. Policeman
A regains his composure and calmly pulls a chair next to him.
POLICEMAN A
Please sit down and have some
water. I just got here, too. I
asked, and the young man said he
had just returned from a business
trip. So, is there anything that
matters?
Policeman B doesn't stop observing the Amerasian. Under the light,
his face looks tense, without a trace of cruelty. On the contrary, he
looks naïve.
