                                                   POLICEMAN B
                                            (Mumbling)
                                     Um... there are new facts...
(He changes his tone to sound very
                                            serious)
Well, since everybody is here now,
I will give it to you straight.
                                     Folks from this hamlet have
reported to the station that this
                                     Amerasian here has raped someone.
                                     My responsibility now is to
                                     investigate this rape. This
afternoon I met with the victim.
                                     She has admitted to the
                                     relationship with this young man
here. Young man, I have been
looking for you for the last few
days, but couldn't find you. Now
that I see you here, you must tell
us the truth. You must tell us what
you did. You cannot evade your
                                     responsibility and the law.

Policeman B stares at the Amerasian with a stern expression in his
eyes as if he wants to hypnotize him.

Confused, the Amerasian looks the other way.

The mother regains her composure. She fires back in an irritated

                       voice:

                                                   THE AMERASIAN'S MOTHER

As I told you the last time, my son
has done nothing wrong. He's a good
boy. He does honest work and
                                     doesn't do anything illegal. What
right do you have to keep
                                     interrogating him? Don't go too
far, or someone will sue you for

                                     illegally entering a home.
