5 EXT. THE CEMETERY - AFTERNOON
THE MAN lets go of his daughter and dashes toward the road like a
madman. In the darkness, he stumbles and falls several times.
Suddenly he notices a tall, wavering silhouette against, and then
disappearing into the darkening sky.
He stumbles on a mound and falls to the ground. In desperation he
bursts into tears.
6 EXT. THE GIRL'S HOME - EVENING
THE MAN rises with difficulty and then slowly makes his way back to
the tomb to carry his daughter home. THE GIRL is limp in his arms, her
hair flopping with each unsteady step her suffering father takes.
7 INT. THE GIRL'S HOME - EVENING
The wooden house has a tin roof and is poor and dilapidated. An oil
lamp gives out a weak and flickering light. The front room looks empty
as it contains only a flimsy set of living room furniture. The back room is
divided into two areas by a curtain.
Brought home by her father, bathed and cleaned up by her mother,
who has also changed her clothes and put ointments on her wounds,
THE GIRL is recovering, but she refuses to say anything.
THE GIRL'S MOTHER
(Sobbing as she talks to her husband)
Father, what happened to our
daughter?
THE MAN
She has been...She has been...
