THE GIRL'S MOTHER
What happened to her? Tell me? Who
did this?
In his mind's eye, THE MAN sees the silhouette of the tall, lanky man
against the sky
THE MAN
It's possible he could be... He
could be... But I am not sure.
8 INT. THE GIRL'S HOME - EVENING (FLASHBACK)
THE GIRL'S MOTHER walks to the back of the house. THE MAN is
sitting still with his head bent near his daughter's bed.
He remembers how she used to run out to greet him every day when
he got back home, how he would kiss her on the cheek, how she
would get him a glass of water, and how she would pour water in a
basin for him to wash his face.
He remembers the dreams he used to have of her growing up, pretty
as a flower, and walking into a university auditorium under the
admiring gaze of the male students.
9 INT. THE GIRL'S HOME - EVENING
THE GIRL wakes up, opens her eyes, and looks at her father. THE
MAN strokes her hair and gently talks to her.
THE MAN
Tell your father what happened.
Don't be afraid. Was it the
Amerasian?
THE GIRL opens her eyes wide. She looks surprised. She neither
acknowledges what he has said nor denies it. He understands that he
has guessed right. His face suddenly contorts, and he slumps down in
his seat.
