true. He adds that he knows and loves the girl, is very remorseful, and
wants to confess his crime to the girl's parents to seek their
forgiveness and find a way to resolve the situation. His confession
shocks his mother since his actions could jeopardize their dream of

going to America. In the meantime, the father of the girl becomes
enraged. He finds an old hunting knife, sharpens it, and decides to use
it to get revenge by killing the Amerasian. He hides near the turn off on
the road to the Amerasian's house and when he walks by, he jumps
out to stab him. However, the Amerasian is quick and escapes with

only a few scrapes. The Amerasian recognizes his attacker, kneels,
asks for forgiveness, confesses his love for the daughter, and states
his desire for a satisfactory resolution of the affair. The man is
surprised by this turn of events and says he accepts for the time being

what the Amerasian has said. However, the man demands that the
Amerasian and his mother come to his home to discuss the matter.

The supposedly secret story of an Amerasian being involved in a rape
somehow leaks out. Two local policemen become concerned with the
story. Policeman A, who is responsible for the area where the

Amerasian and his mother live, wants to extort money from them.
Policeman B wants to capture and punish the Amerasian because he
has a personal grudge to settle with the Americans and anything
                       related to America.

During the war, his entire family perished during the My Lai/Son My
                       Massacre in 1968.

The Amerasian finds himself in a tense situation. He cannot come to
the girl's home to discuss the matter and ask for forgiveness because
he must now flee. However, he manages to meet the girl in secret.

They talk and come to an understanding, and the girl accepts the
Amerasian's love for her and forgives him.

Policeman B contacts the old man and the girl, but cannot prove
anything because they do not cooperate with him. He tries to ambush

the Amerasian near the girl's house, but cannot capture him. Instead,
he sees the Amerasian and the
