17.

The girl becomes scared. She pushes him away and starts to
scream. Startled, he presses his hand over her mouth and speaks
                       as he breathes heavily.

                                                   THE AMERASIAN (CONT'D)
                                     Don't... don't be afraid. Don't be
                                     afraid... I love you

And then the animal instincts of the male take over. He does
everything brutally until she passes out.

He now feels fear and remorse. He holds the girl close to him and
gently shakes her to bring her back to consciousness. She then starts
                       crying softly.

He doesn't know what to do, but then hears a man's footsteps
approaching. Silently he slinks away like a cat vanishing in the half
                       darkness.

                       14 INT. THE GIRL'S HOME - EVENING

THE MAN AND HIS WIFE cannot sleep for most of the night. He
suffers silently, but his wife screams, curses and cries.
They feel completely powerless to deal with the situation as they look
at their daughter lying motionless and half asleep on her bed under

the yellowish and flickering light of the oil lamp.

Outside of the roof and dilapidated home, the wind suddenly howls over
the treetops. Now and then, like the stabs of a sharp knife, the icy and
sharp hoots of an owl pierce the frightening darkness that envelops the
                       cemetery.

                       15 EXT. THE GIRL'S HOME - MORNING

In the morning, THE MAN asks his wife to walk out into the garden so
that they can talk without being overheard by their daughter.
