23 EXT. THE HOME OF THE BLACK AMERASIAN'S MOTHER -
EVENING (FLASHBACK)

The Black GI and the mother of the Amerasian are saying goodbye to
each other in front of the house. He then leaves. She has had no news
of him since.

24 INT. THE HOME OF THE BLACK AMERASIAN - DAYTIME

The Amerasian's mother is in her bed and having a hard time sleeping
when THE AMERSIAN returns home with a long face. He becomes
agitated when he sees his mother all curled up and having trouble
breathing. He rushes to her bedside and asks her:

THE
Mother, are you sick? Please tell

me what you are suffering from, so
that I can get you some medicine.

The mother weakly attempts to sit up and then asks her son to sit on
the bed beside her. She looks at his face for a long time and sees that
he is sad as if tormented by something.
She suddenly understands that whatever the skinny man has told her is

true. She feels as if someone has beaten her with a big stick. She
grasps her son's head and speaks weakly.

THE AMERASIAN'S MOTHER
Why did you do what you did? Your
life was going to change for the
better, and now all may be lost.
Are you crazy?

The Amerasian lifts his head and looks at his mother.

THE AMERASIAN

So, you know everything?

She nods painfully.
