30.
After a while, the bayonet shines like a flash of the setting sun, and its
tip is as sharp as that of a lance.
He imagines the bayonet in his bony hand penetrating the heart of the
savage Amerasian.
29 INT. THE GIRL'S HOME - AFTERNOON
It is getting dark. THE MAN looks inside the house and sees his
daughter trying to sleep in her bed. Her face is pale. He cannot hold
back his tears. He whispers to her.
THE MAN
Don't be sad. I will avenge you.
He leaves the home quietly.
30 EXT. THE AMERASIAN'S HOME - AFTERNOON
THE MAN approaches the Amerasian's house and then stops to
observe. The area where the house is located is rather isolated. The
houses are far from each other because they all have large yards.
Along the roads are many small bushes.
These could prove very useful when planning an ambush.
He stops in front of the house just behind the hibiscus hedge and
listens. He hears nothing but silence, and a woman coughing now and
then. He quietly hides behind a bush and waits.
He doesn't have to wait long. He hears footsteps and then sees the
shadow of a tall, lanky man emerge from the darkening sky. The
shadow is the same as that of the man he saw when he chased
desperately after his daughter's rapist.
Seeing the shadow brings back a vivid image of his daughter writhing in
pain on the ground. Hatred flares up in his mind, giving him
superhuman strength as he lunges forward and thrusts his knife at the
Amerasian's chest just as he is approaching a bend in the road.
