THE AMERASIAN
You don't have to worry too much. I
have met your father. In the
beginning, he was very angry. But
later, he seemed to understand our
situation, and I promised that
tomorrow morning my mother and I
would come meet your parents and
talk. I hope your mother will
forgive me and allow me to redeem
myself.
The girl's eyes glisten under the feeble moonlight.
THE GIRL
Is it true? I am so happy. But how
are you going to redeem yourself?
THE AMERASIAN
I don't know yet. It all depends on
your father and mother. Perhaps I
will ask to marry you right away,
or perhaps I will go to America for
a few years, study some more, get a
stable job, and when conditions
permit, come back for you. What do
you think?
THE GIRL
But right now, I am too young. How
can I marry you?
THE AMERASIAN
Why not? We need to be together;
don't you want that?
