Yesterday, I joined 249 other people from green businesses, development charities, trades associations, green groups and the Women's Institute outside the Treasury. We'd come to tell the government that the green economy is working.
One million people are already working in the green economy, producing low carbon goods and providing environmental services. While the rest of the economy stagnates, green businesses are growing by around 5% each year.
The Confederation of British Industry found that green businesses were responsible for one third of all economic growth in the UK last year.

This is a great sucess story - and it's happened in spite of several people in the coalition government. Instead of supporting green businesses in straitened economic times, a few headbangers like George Osborne are trying to stamp out green growth.
As we were preparing for yesterday's event, Osborne was disrupting a special energy-themed meeting of the quad - the most senior members of the cabinet - and referring to his parliamentary colleagues as 'the environmental Taliban'.

Osborne has his own reasons for not wanting to promote green energy, but he's on his own. Everyone else wants the government to stop listening to the toxic chancellor and start supporting low carbon businesses.
