Spot the stormtrooper and win 200 Jedi points

This Saturday, Greenpeace volunteers will be out in force on the streets of London inviting people to sign petition cards to Volkswagen, and we’d like to invite you to support them by joining in a grand game of Spot the Stormtrooper.

Volkswagen say they want to be the world’s "most eco-friendly car manufacturer", so to help make that happen we want to collect 10,000 petition cards asking them to stop lobbying against laws that would make cars more efficient and cut Europe’s CO2 emissions.

Each team of volunteers will be accompanied by a VW stormtrooper just back from campaigning in Brussels, so if you spot a stormtrooper we’d like you to take a picture and to upload it to the Greenpeace UK Facebook page. Simply click on 'Share: photo and then 'Upload a photo'.

Once you’ve uploaded your photo, please also add a comment about where you spotted the stormtrooper with a link to your Jedi training page e.g. http://www.vwdarkside.com/en/jedi/chris-craft-01010 and we’ll award you an extra 200 Jedi training points. If you don't yet have a Jedi training page, you can create one here.

If you’re on Twitter then please also tweet about your encounter using the hashtag #spotthestormtrooper.

Greenpeace volunteers will also be armed with ‘I’m part of the Rebellion’ car stickers, so even if you’re not on Facebook or Twitter please sign a petition card, take a sticker, and help us spread the campaign message.

On Saturday, confirmed Stormtrooper sightings are likely to happen in London in the general locations shown on the map. Stormtoopers may be roaming a little, to avoid a horde of 2500-plus Santas, so keep an eye out for Greenpeace volunteers - we'll update this blog during the day.

Further sightings are likely in Eastbourne, York and Canterbury (on Saturday) in Oxford (on Sunday) and on a high street near you after the weekend. Please look out for events on the Get Active webpage or check back on the map. The game will run until the end of February or until Volkswagen turn away from the Dark Side.

Confirmed Stormtrooper sightings have already occurred in Hammersmith, Bristol, Southampton, St.Andrews, St.Pauls, Worcester, Leeds, Camden [video], Liverpool, Bishopston and Totterdown (Bristol) and more.

While Volkswagen refuses to meet Greenpeace the campaign will continue to grow. We need your help to make this happens so please get involved, and tell your friends too.

Together we can turn Volkswagen away from the Dark Side - may the Force be with you.
