The Arctic 30 have now been charged with piracy by the Russian state prosecutor. They stood up to protect the Arctic, and they now face the possibility of spending years in prison on an absurd and outrageous charge. So let's stand with them in global day of solidarity this Saturday, 5th October.
"They made their stand in the interests of us all. Now we must come together and stand with them" - Kumi Naidoo
An incredible 800,000 have written to Russian Embassies to demand the immediate release of the Arctic 30 - thank you. Now let's make the global outcry impossible to ignore. Across the UK and around the world, people will be coming together this Saturday to show their support for the Arctic 30 and to write messages of peace and solidarity on paper doves (see below for download materials), which will be sent to those detained in Murmansk.
This list of the UK events will be continually updated (please get in touch with your nearest group/network to find out if they're organising an event on Saturday, or sign up here for SMS/email updates for the latest):

What we would like people to do at the protests
We will be asking people to write messages of peace and solidarity on paper doves. These dove messages will be sent to those detained in Murmansk, so they will be collected at each event.
What you can do at home
If you can't come to a protest please print out a dove, write your message of peace and solidarity on it and send it to the Arctic 30 to show them how much support they have »
You can also take a picture and upload it to Facebook and Twitter.

"I have no idea how this will end, how long it will take. The uncertainty is driving me crazy" - Faiza Oulahsen, Arctic 30
Just a note
It's essential for the freedom of the 30, and the safety of the Greenpeace Russia office, staff and Russian friends and family that no anti-Russian or anti-Putin slogans, imagery or speeches are used. Criticism of the Russian authorities and court process can have a direct impact on the legal cases of the 30, so please help us to keep events focused on support for the Arctic 30 and our need to protect the Arctic and our climate.
