Meet the defendants in the Kingsnorth Six trial:
Kevin Drake
Kevin
Drake is 44 and lives in a Wiltshire village with his wife and daughter.
He is a freelance industrial rope access safety supervisor. Kev is a
proud father and values humour and family life, and enjoys being outdoors and likes interacting with the
natural world through activities such as caving, camping, rock climbing and body
boarding. He has been volunteering for Greenpeace for ten years.
Emily Hall
Born
and raised in the sunny Hawkes Bay on the east coast of New
Zealand’s North Island, Emily, 34, left New
Zealand to go travelling in 1996, coming to the UK along the
way to visit friends and relatives. She ended up putting down tentative roots
here and settled in London
four and a half years ago having completed her studies. She lives in London and began working for Greenpeace UK in 2007.
Tim Hewke
Tim Hewke is in his forties and has worked for Greenpeace for thirteen
years as a researcher. He lives in Harrietsham,
Kent and enjoys
wining and dining, photography, growing his own veggies and country pursuits.
He has recently won the tallest sunflower grown in Chegworth!
Will Rose
Will
Rose, 29, has worked as a press photographer for the past six years. He now
dedicates his career to working for environment and development NGOs after
becoming aware of the threat posed by climate change. A Northumbrian by birth
he now lives in north London with his partner.
A keen musician, he plays drums, guitar and various other instruments and is a
member of several bands.
Ben Stewart
Ben Stewart, 34, is a law graduate from
Lyminge, a village a few miles outside Canterbury
in Kent.
He is the communications director at Greenpeace UK, where he has worked for seven
years. Before that he worked at Amnesty International as press officer for
Europe and the former Soviet
states. He is also a
former winner of The Guardian Young Journalist of the Year Award – for an
interview he conducted with Michael Howard, in the course of which the
then home secretary lost his temper and threw him out of his office following a
question about the controversial criminal justice bill. He has met Bill
Clinton, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown to discuss environmental protection.
Huw Williams
Huw
Williams is 41 and divides his time between a village in Nottinghamshire and
cruising Britain's
inland waterways on a narrowboat. He studied agriculture, works as a
traditional sign writer and is a keen caver and touring cyclist. Huw has been
volunteering with Greenpeace for 15 years and his interests include rural
crafts, wildlife watching and talking about it all to anyone who will listen.
