Marchwood 14 anti-war protesters

Following Lord Goldsmith's declaration that he would stand up in court to defend his advice to go to war in Iraq, Greenpeace has asked the Attorney-General to appear as a witness in a case against 14 of our activists in Southampton next week.

If Lord Goldsmith refuses, we will ask the trial judge to issue a summons against him.

Nuclear Investigations from Iraq

A US military health physicist and radiation expert in Iraq has endorsed a call from Greenpeace for the UN nuclear experts, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to be given a full mandate to search, survey and decontaminate towns and villages around the Tuwaitha nuclear facility near Baghdad

When they invaded Iraq, the US and UK failed to safeguard dangerous nuclear material, secured at Tuwaitha while under Saddam Hussein's regime, and highly radioactive materials have ended up in local communities where they are threatening people's health and environment.

George Bush - the ace of spades

Greenpeace has issued a deck of cards to delegates at the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) meeting in Geneva to help them recognise the states that should be elimintating their nuclear arsenals.

The cards are very similar in design and layout to those the US issued to troops in Iraq.

Our cards feature photos of the eight major nuclear proliferators - Presidents Bush (US), Putin (Russia), Hu Jintao (China), Chirac (France), Musharraf (Pakistan) and Prime Ministers Blair (UK), Vajpayee (India) and Sharon (Israel) - and the number of weapons they possess.

The links between the Bush administration and Esso are an "open secret" in the US. A Deutsche Bank report stated that Esso's "political clout" means it "may find itself in pole position in a changed-regime Iraq".

Greenpeace and other anti-war groups today urged people to join a mass demonstration outside Parliament today when MPs debate whether to go to war against Iraq.

People are being urged to come to parliament and ask to speak to their MP, then to join a No War protest in Parliament Square.
