On a windy night in September, whilst most people were sleeping, wind power reached a record of 64.2% of Spain’s electricity demand.

VW claim they are committed to becomming the "most eco-friendly automaker in the world". But if their new Golf 7 is anything to go by they aren't living up to their claims. Our report published before the launch of the Golf 7 shows how a greener, more efficient Golf is possible.

Miliband's speech on the economy - Greenpeace response

This morning Labour leader Ed Miliband used his speech on the economy at the London Stock Exchange to attack the Chancellor George Osborne for “posing the environment and the economy as alternatives.” 

Responding, Greenpeace’s executive director, John Sauven, said: 

“George Osborne must stop holding back Britain’s low-carbon businesses. Everybody from the CBI to the Labour leadership to green groups are now urging him to back these growing industries.

Its been over a year since Greenpeace first asked VW to leave the Dark Side and stop lobbying against strong climate laws. Since then we’ve heard rumours that there is good in the company, that they are wrestling with their conscience and looking to improve their green credentials. Yet last night the company finally launched their new Golf7, and sadly it seems the Dark Emperor inside VW is clinging on.

Greenpeace response to Heathrow expansion calls

Responding to the re-emergence of calls for the expansion of Heathrow airport, John Sauven, executive director of Greenpeace UK, said: 

“It’s high time the aviation lobbyists realise their runway plans aren’t going to fly. The Prime Minister has personally promised that it won’t happen, and the Transport Secretary is firmly against it too.
