Future radiation doses from waste dumping to exceed 2005 limits

Estimates of radiation doses to the public in the future, from the release of radioactive materials from the Drigg nuclear dump site, could reach up to 30 times than the legal maximum permissible now! Moreover, Drigg, the UK's main low-level waste dump is likely to be destroyed by coastal erosion in 500 years.

Emissions from modern incinerators pose no health risk Anyone who says modern incinerators are safe is either misinformed or lying.

Everyone knows the chemicals created and released during incineration process are dangerous. No one knows if the volumes discharged even from the most modern incinerators are safe.

Government incineration policy reduced to ashes

incinerator parkGreenpeace today welcomed the report on sustainable waste management by the House of Commons Select Committee on the Environment, Transport and the Regions. The report condemns the Government's policy on waste incineration and raises real doubts about the safety and regulation of the technology.


The report itself says that "incineration will never play a major role in truly sustainable waste management" and that "the health effects, which result from an incinerator's emissions, are not yet fully known".
