Among the many, many things that the EU regulates, are a handful of little-known laws that have helped protect the UK countryside. They are called the Birds and Habitat Directives.

Greenpeace covers bogus claim with questions from public

Photos: can be downloaded from this link throughout the day.

The famous ‘Vote Leave’ battle bus has been acquired by Greenpeace and is being re-branded outside Parliament. The bogus £350m NHS claim is being covered over with thousands of questions for the new government from Leave and Remain voters – many of them about what Brexit means for the environment. The questions, written on stickers, are forming a montage that will spell out the words ‘TIME FOR TRUTH’ in huge white letters on the side of the bus.

The flagship of a pro-Brexit flotilla currently sailing up the Thames was caught up in the UK’s largest ever fraud involving illegal catches of fish and is now partly owned by one of the richest fishing barons in the country, Greenpeace can reveal.

The Christina S, a 72-metre-long pelagic trawler, is one of two large vessels meant to be the showstoppers in a river protest organised by Scottish skippers heading towards Westminster this morning to call for the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

Ariana Densham, Greenpeace Oceans Campaigner said: "If Farage and UKIP MEPs had spent less time in the boozer, and more time in the EU parliament, they would have noticed that the Common Fisheries Policy has been completely reformed. It is now the solution to many of the struggles facing local, sustainable fishermen. It is national governments failing to give a fair share of fishing quota to local fishermen that is the problem, not the EU.

We've caught sawmills in the Amazon rainforest trading illegal timber. Now a shipment of illegal timber from one of those sawmills is on its way to Europe. If we act quickly, we can force the authorities to take action.
