As European Commissioners gather to debate the future of Genetically Modified (GM) crops and food in Brussels, environment and consumer representatives have exposed an EC Recommendation, guiding member states on GM crops, as legally and fundamentally flawed. The NGOs are calling for the Recommendation to be withdrawn and are calling for an urgent meeting to discuss its legal status and content.

A joint WDCS/Greenpeace cetacean survey using conventional line-transect techniques and trialling other survey methodologies, including acoustic detection, carried out between 21 January and 1 March 2004 in the Western Approaches of the English Channel.
In June 2004, Greenpeace published an initial report outlining how the Swiss-based Danzer Group had been knowingly financing illegal logging in Africa. Now we've obtained additional evidence of further unscrupulous behaviour - including suspected forgery and carrying out business dealings with an arms trafficker who is blacklisted by the UN Security Council.
What can reverse the devastation caused by the agriculture industry and ensure that the world can feed itself in the future? Funded by Greenpeace, Bread for the World and the UK Department for International Development, Essex University researchers undertook the largest ever study of environmentally and socially responsible farming.
