While our own drive to drastically
improve car efficiency changes gears, there are of course plenty of other
people trying to get the message across. One such group, Mundo Cars, isn't the new line of
Slovakian automobiles it might appear to be, but a collaborative effort by
several organisations working on transport issues.

That's the eye watering message from our friends over at I Count. They're talking of course about the Climate Change Bill - and are asking you to put the virtual squeeze on your MP, to make sure the bill gets the balls it needs to stop climate change:

So, today the Renewable Transport Fuel
Obligation (RTFO) comes into effect and we'll all be using more biofuels as a
result. Regular readers will know that this exciting piece of legislation will
see 2.5 per cent of our petrol and diesel coming from food crops, and that we have
been asking everyone to send emails to transport secretary Ruth Kelly asking
her to postpone the RTFO. Now we need to see that she abandons so if you
haven't expressed your concern about this already, you can still do so.

Fashion is a fickle beast but now a whole city
is going retro (well, not quite but it was too good a pun to waste). The
long-awaited plan to retrofit all buildings owned and operated by the Greater
London Authority (GLA) with energy-saving systems and technology is finally in
motion with contracts awarded to companies which are going to slash the capital's emissions.
While much of the discussion about energy
efficiency in buildings has focused on new houses, there are still millions of
older buildings that lack proper insulation or top-notch heating systems. No
matter how good those eco-towns are, if and when they're built they'll only
represent a small proportion of the building stock in the UK.
Fortunately, the GLA have a cunning plan.
