New wind turbines are constructed at the Butterwick Moor Wind Farm.
The Chancellor’s assault on our climate must stop. It’s time for David Cameron and Nick Clegg to intervene and stop him.

Is your energy bill as big as this?
This morning 50 Greenpeace volunteers shut down the head office of British Gas owners Centrica using the world's biggest energy bill.
We're there to tell Centrica to end its dangerous addiction to expensive and polluting fossil fuels. It is time to get off the gas price rollercoaster and start investing in clean, renewable energy and energy efficiency to bring bills under control and tackle climate change.
Take action now to tell Centrica to end the energy rip-off!

Across
the UK millions of families and businesses are feeling the economic squeeze.
As
anybody who has recently received their bill for last winter will be painfully
aware, soaring costs of energy are a huge reason for this.
Shocking
new analysis by Bloomberg New Energy Finance for Greenpeace, shows that most of
the Big Six energy utilities haven’t been investing money from customer bills
in a way that brings energy prices under control and secures a clean energy
supply for the UK.

Middelgrunden offshore windfarm in Denmark
Hot on the heels of Germany’s ambitious renewable
energy plans, the Danish government went even further and announced last week that they plan to get half of their country’s total
electricity requirement from renewable sources by 2020 and 100% of total energy, including electricity, heating, industry
and transport, by 2050.

Thermographic image of heat loss
The Environmental Change Institute at Oxford University have just put out a new
report calling for new laws to increase energy efficiency standards in all of
the UK’s 26 million homes and 2 million business properties. Implementing these recommendations would mean that energy use in all buildings in the UK result in zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Over the last two weeks all of the Big Six energy companies - E.On, RWE, nPower, British Gas, EDF, Scottish Power, and Scottish and Southern Energy - have announced reduction in their prices for gas or electricity. However, our analysis of the reductions in wholesale prices compared to the retail prices show that the Big Six are not passing on the fulls savings to their customers.

As 'easy to reach oil' becomes scarcer, companies are expanding their search to new frontiers, such as the Arctic, previously considered too inaccessible, expensive or risky to exploit.
There are legitimate concerns that oil companies are not technically capable of, or financially prepared for, managing spills and their aftermath in these new and challenging environments; and that they are not being required to demonstrate their preparedness publicly, before being granted licenses to explore and produce oil.
