This mansion is a sprawling, late 19th-century estate with period furnishings and artwork. You can arrange tours by appointment. For history buffs, this mansion should be a must-see. You can also attend special events like a black-tie gala.
Historic mansion, the Wyeth-Tootle Manor is located at 11th & Charles sts. Built in 1879 by William M. Wyeth, it was designed by Mann Architects in Gothic style. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles lived there until 1887 when it was sold.
The mansion includes three floors and one tower. The house is home to more than 40 rooms. The interior is decorated with beautiful woodwork, handpainted ceilings, and imported stain glass. You can experience life in the late 19th-century. Near downtown St. Joseph, Missouri is the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion. Huston Wyeth, in addition to his business success, held several city positions. He was active within the city's arts and manufacturing sectors. He served as president of the Humane Society of St. Joseph, and on the board of Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved in the Waterways League of America, and the American Museum of Natural History. He was also a member, among others, of the Wyeth Duck Club and St. Joseph Duck Club. He was also president of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
