The Wyeth - Tootle Manor, at 11th and Charles sts., is a historical mansion. William M. Wyeth built it in 1879. It was designed in Gothic style by Eckel and Mann Architects. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles owned the house from 1887 until it was sold.
The mansion is three stories high and has a tower. The house is home to more than 40 rooms. Beautiful woodwork and imported stained glasses are some of the interior's highlights. The interior allows visitors to experience the life of a late 19th-century resident. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion can be found near St. Joseph in Missouri. Huston Wyeth was a well-known businessman and held many positions within the city. He was active in the city’s manufacturing and arts industries. He served on the board of directors of Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was involved in the Waterways League of America as well as the American Museum of Natural History. He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He was also the president and founder of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
