The late 19th century estate features period furnishings, art, and other antiques. Visits can be arranged by appointment. The mansion is worth a visit for history buffs. You can also attend special events like a black-tie gala.
Historic mansion, the Wyeth-Tootle Manor is located at 11th & Charles sts. William M. Wyeth constructed it in 1879. The Gothic design was created by Eckel and Mann Architects. The family's European travels inspired them to create the mansion, which they completed in 1883. The Tootles occupied the house until 1887 when it sold.
The mansion consists of three floors and a tower. The house is home to more than 40 rooms. Beautiful woodwork, hand-painted ceilings and imported stained windows are all part of the interior. Visitors can also experience life in the late nineteenth century. Near downtown St. Joseph, Missouri is the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion. Huston Wyeth served several roles in the city as well. He was active within the city's arts and manufacturing sectors. He was president of St. Joseph Humane Society, and served as a member of the Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was involved in the Waterways League of America as well as the American Museum of Natural History. He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He also served the presidency of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
