The Wyeth - Tootle Manor at 11th & Charles sts is a historic home. Built in 1879 by William M. Wyeth, it was designed by Mann Architects in Gothic style. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles lived there until 1887 when it was sold.
The mansion is three stories high and has a tower. The house contains more than 40 rooms. Beautiful woodwork, hand-painted ceilings and imported stained windows are all part of the interior. The interior allows visitors to experience the life of a late 19th-century resident. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion is found in St. Joseph, Missouri. Huston Wyeth held several important positions in the city, as well as being a businessman. He was actively involved in the city’s arts and manufacturing industries. He was also involved at the American Museum of Natural History and the Waterways League of America. He was also a member the St. Joseph Duck Club, the Wyeth Duck Club, the Audubon Society, and the St. Joseph Duck Club. He was also president of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
