The Wyeth - Tootle Manor, at 11th and Charles sts., is a historical mansion. William M. Wyeth built it in 1879. It was designed in Gothic style by Eckel and Mann Architects. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles lived here until 1887, when the property was sold.
The mansion has three floors, and a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. Beautiful woodwork and imported stained glasses are some of the interior's highlights. It is possible to see what it was like living in the 19th century. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion is found in St. Joseph, Missouri. Huston Wyeth was a well-known businessman and held many positions within the city. He was involved in the city's manufacturing and art industries. He served on the board of directors of Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved with both the Waterways League of America (USA) and the American Museum of Natural History (USA). He was also a member, among others, of the Wyeth Duck Club and St. Joseph Duck Club. He also served the presidency of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
