PowerProtect Cloud Snapshot Manager overview

Cloud Snapshot Manager is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for backup and disaster recovery of cloud workloads, enabling organizations to manage and protect application data in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) cloud environments seamlessly without requiring installation or infrastructure.

AWS, Azure, and GCP users can discover instances and automate native application consistent snapshots across multiple cloud accounts and regions that are based on policies.

Features

  • Seamless protection of workloads in multiple clouds from a single pane view
  • Role-based access control (RBAC) along with Federated Identification providing a comprehensive and secure Identity and Access Management system. This ensures that enterprises have the security and control they need to meet their regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Multi-tenancy capabilities that enable multiple Cloud Snapshot Manager accounts and users
  • Automation and orchestration of snapshots for Virtual Machines (VM), Volumes, and Databases according to configurable policies
  • Discovery and visibility of AWS, Azure, and GCP resources in any region
  • Tag based protection policy assignment to resources in AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Copy snapshots to PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DDVE) for cost efficient long term retention of backups
  • Cross-region replication to protect against regional disasters
  • Cross-account replication in AWS to protect against security breaches and attacks
  • Discovery of AWS snapshots that were created outside of Cloud Snapshot Manager to manage and control sprawl of snapshots better
  • Leverages native AWS provided Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) capabilities to take VSS snapshots
  • Provides application consistency for AWS, Azure, and GCP snapshots using custom scripts (also known as pre and post scripts)
  • Deletion of snapshots according to expiration policies to reduce storage costs
  • One-click restores of one or a group of resources including the configuration settings to the original regions
  • File Level Recovery (FLR) capabilities for AWS, Azure and GCP resources
  • SaaS solution that requires zero infrastructure in the user's cloud account
  • Reporting and audit logs that provide global visibility across cloud accounts and regions
