- PowerProtect Cloud Snapshot Manager overviewCloud Snapshot Manager is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for backup and disaster recovery of cloud workloads, enabling organizations to manage and protect application data in AWS and Azure cloud environments seamlessly without requiring installation or infrastructure.

- Access to Cloud Snapshot ManagerExisting Cloud Snapshot Manager users can choose to access the portal by configuring Federated Identity. Federated Identity is supported by SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) protocol.
- Home dashboardCloud Snapshot Manager dashboard provides information about the status of your resources. You can also view protection plans that have run as well as Cloud Snapshot Manager events which have occurred in the last 24 hours.
- Cloud account managementCloud Snapshot Manager can protect the cloud resources (VM, Storage, Database) that are in AWS or Azure accounts.
- AWS account managementAn AWS cloud account can be created based on one of the following authentication types:
- Azure account managementYou can create Microsoft Azure cloud accounts using custom roles and assign the following details to the Cloud Snapshot Manager cloud account:
- Create a cloud accountYou can create one or many cloud accounts, one at a time. Every Cloud Snapshot Manager cloud account represents communication with a unique AWS or Azure account. You can only associate one cloud account with a cloud provider account.
- Configure cloud provider permissions A cloud account connects Cloud Snapshot Manager to a single cloud provider account.
- Edit a cloud accountYou can edit details for a cloud account and perform tasks such as changing the authentication type, changing the role ARN value, and updating the authentication key.
- Delete a cloud account You can delete a cloud account in Cloud Snapshot Manager provided there are no associated protection plans, active snapshots, or report schedules.
- Configure AWS custom encryption keysCloud Snapshot Manager supports creating copies of snapshots in remote regions or cross-regions. If the snapshot in the original region, that is, where the resource resides, is not encrypted, then the target region snapshot is also not encrypted.
- Configure CSM Proxy Using CSM, you can copy EBS snapshots to DDVE if you have DDVE deployed in your AWS cloud environment.
- Configure Azure snapshot storage settingsIn the Azure Snapshot Storage Settings page, you can specify a suffix for the resource group name which is used to create snapshots in an alternate resource group other than that of the resource itself. The alternate resource group must be created in the Azure portal.
- Storage management Cloud Snapshot Manager enables you to use storage appliances to store snapshots for long term retention and to save on snapshot storage cost.
- Add Data Domain storage appliance Data Domain Virtual Edition (DDVE) is a software-only protection storage system: a virtual deduplication system that provides data protection for organization and service provider environments.
- Add storage units After adding a DDVE storage appliance, you can add configuration details for storage units (STU) in CSM.
- Policy enablementYou can define the frequency and expiration of snapshots by creating a Cloud Snapshot Manager policy.
- Protection Plan enablementA Cloud Snapshot Manager protection plan enables the selection of resources that you want to protect and the assignment of a specific protection policy for those resources. You can disable or edit a defined protection plan at any time.
- Resource discoveryBrowse through discovered cloud resources to select one or many of these resources to snapshot (using the Snapshot function).
- Snapshot managementIn the Snapshots page, you can manage snapshots that Cloud Snapshot Manager creates, with options:
- Job run status On the Jobs page of the Cloud Snapshot Manager portal, you can see the run status of Cloud Snapshot Manager jobs.
- Event browsingYou can filter for and list specific, defined events according to the time that they occurred in the Cloud Snapshot Manager system or by the type of event that occurred.
- Operations auditingCloud Snapshot Manager creates audit logs of user-initiated actions.
- Report managementOn the Reports page of the Cloud Snapshot Manager portal, you can generate reports under the following categories:
- Identity and access managementFor tailoring Cloud Snapshot Manager users' capabilities to align with their responsibilities, Cloud Snapshot Manager provides Role Based Access Control (RBAC).
- EntitlementsThe Entitlements page in the Cloud Snapshot Manager portal gives you a summary of the entitlements that were purchased and assigned to a Cloud Snapshot Manager account.
- PreferencesThe Preferences page allows you to specify different user preferences for Cloud Snapshot Manager.
  - Account settingsIn the Account section, you can specify the default display preferences for Cloud Snapshot Manager.
  - Notify events In the Notifications section of the Preferences page, if you subscribe for notifications, Cloud Snapshot Manager sends event notifications to the users that you specify in the Send email to field.
- Cloud Snapshot Manager integration with DDVECloud Snapshot Manager integration with Data Domain Virtual Edition (DDVE) enables you to leverage the power of DDVE to retain snapshot copies (backup copies) for a long period of time with high level of deduplication.
