Protection Plan enablement

A Cloud Snapshot Manager protection plan enables the selection of resources that you want to protect and the assignment of a specific protection policy for those resources. You can disable or edit a defined protection plan at any time.

In the Protection Plan page, you can:

• Create resource based and tag based protection plans. For more information, see Create a protection plan.
• Take VSS snapshots or run a script before and after the snapshot is taken for each resource to enable application consistency. For more information about application consistent snapshots, see Application consistent snapshots.
• Exclude data volumes attached. For more information, see Exclude volumes from the protection plan.
• Copy snapshots to PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DDVE) based on backup policy included in the protection plan.

After you set up a protection plan, protection jobs automatically trigger to create and delete snapshots according to the policies that you have set for that plan.
