Restore from any AWS snapshot to a region where there is a copy
Cloud Snapshot Manager enables you to create copies of snapshots in remote regions so that you can quickly recover entire VMs or volumes in other regions.
About this task
The snapshot is created in the same region as the resource, and then copied to one or more regions as configured in the policy.
For VM snapshots, the network and security settings in the saved configuration are from the original resource region. Therefore, Cloud Snapshot Manager cannot use these values to restore. The simple one-click restore is also not available when restoring a VM to a different region. Restoring a VM snapshot to a new region requires selecting a new network and providing security information. You can also select the volumes to be restored with the VM.
To restore a snapshot to a new region, first browse for snapshots with the region criteria set to the region in which you want to restore. Then find the required snapshot and select Restore. After selecting the new configuration, click Restore Now to complete the restore process.
NOTE: Cloud Snapshot Manager can only restore resources to regions in which it has created a snapshot.
